Stephanie Gordon, M.S L.Ac

Founder, Co-Owner, Board Certified Licensed Acupuncturist

Although many may consider what owner Stephanie Gordon does to be alternative, she swears by the integrative healing powers of acupuncture therapy.  In fact, she credits acupuncture for helping to cure her from the debilitating migraines that she suffered from almost throughout her entire life. Gordon did not initially seek out treatment due to her headaches, but rather to confirm for a prenatal doula client whether the therapy hurt.  After testing it out, she found, on the contrary, that not only was acupuncture not painful, but that it could be used to treat a wide-variety of chronic symptoms both related and unrelated to pregnancy, setting her on the journey to further her education and become a licensed acupuncturist herself.

Her experience working in the health and wellness field ranges from her early days as a birthing doula to her current abilities to treat patients through her knowledge of herbs, nutrition, massage, mindfulness meditation and exercise.  Gordon worked as an independent contractor at a few different clinics before eventually founding Sacred Dunes. Currently, her focus is on blending Eastern and Western medicinal approaches in order to allow others to have a similar experience in finding relief from their everyday ailments.  Gordon stresses the ability of acupuncture to serve as both a standalone treatment, or an effective companion to a patient’s health care plan.

In addition to running her practice, Gordon is the Health and Wellness Coordinator and teacher at The Social and Learning Institute (a non-profit organization that works with adults with developmental disabilities,) a member of the Michigan City Area Chamber of Commerce, and Uptown Arts District Mainstreet Association. She specializes and has a great interest in treating: chronic pain, autoimmune disorders, digestive issues, women's health, and oncology.

Gordon holds bachelor’s degrees in nutrition and education; as well as a master’s degree in traditional Oriental medicine from the Midwest College of Oriental Medicine in Chicago.  She is honored for Sacred Dunes to be a staple in the Michigan City community, offering safe and integrative medicine.

Lindsay Negrelli-Gawat, LMT

Co-Owner, Licensed Massage Therapist

From a young age, Lindsay Negrelli-Gawat has always had a passion for helping people; however, it was not until her aunt was diagnosed with breast cancer and turned to massage therapy to manage her pain that Lindsay realized she this could become a career for her.  Soon after, she too turned to massage to help manage on-going, daily aches and pains and was instantly hooked. This began her journey to study and complete her certification in massage therapy from the Soma Institute of Chicago in 2008, and she has not looked back since.

While her initial draw to the profession was not linked to women’s health, Negrelli-Gawat has quickly found this to be her passion.  After her first pregnancy and subsequent childbirth she learned firsthand how truly beneficial a regular massage routine can throughout the duration of one’s pregnancy, and she spreads that message both throughout Sacred Dunes and the community organizations that she partners with. While she stresses the importance of massage to aid pregnancy and post-partum related ailments, her expertise does not stop there, as she is versed in techniques including (but not limited to): Swedish, Trigger Point Therapy, Strain-Counterstrain, Warm Bamboo, Hot Stone Massage, Lomi Lomi, Reflexology, and Sports Massage.  She has seen success in treating patients suffering from a variety of common medical conditions, and believes in the power of massage to pair with a client’s current plan of care.

When she is not assisting others on their journey to health and wellness, Lindsay enjoys spending time at the local beaches, hiking, volunteering, or doing anything that involves her husband and two children.  Her family are avid lovers of Disney World, and make it a point to get away whenever they can.
